User Comments

  • Your Learning & Mastering disk was outstanding. I was very impressed and thought it did a great job.
  • The Platte Canyon CD is your best bet unless you want a brain dump for a senior developer and even then your retention would not be as great. The "guru" would leave eventually and at anywhere between $750 to $1500 a day. The CD is a steal.
  • The Platte Canyon Learning & Mastering is probably the most interactive bit of multimedia training I've ever experienced. That is probably because they were in charge of the effort and controlled the schedule and budget AND knew the subject matter.
  • I would like to add that I think the Learning & Mastering CD is one of the best tools for learning all the aspects of ToolBook I've ever seen. I've been through the ToolBook course with an approved instructor and the CD. I feel that this CD is worth a lot more than the asking price. It would behoove and organization to purchase this CD and I hardly ever use the word behoove.
  • From an instructional design standpoint, I think it's a wonderful example of one school of instructional design: Laying out objectives, making sure you teach to them, using testing points along the way to make sure people are focusing on the important concepts, providing summary views, practice exercises, show me examples, along with a summative evaluation. I think there are other instructional design models, some relying upon more inferential and exploratory techniques, but I think they've chosen a very good approach given the topic. And I think they've done it in a way that works.
  • I have been in the IT business for the last 15 years working in quality management, configuration management, testing, and instructional design and I must say that I rarely see applications with so few problems on first time being used.
